Single mothers in India face numerous challenges in raising their children and providing for their families. These challenges are particularly pronounced among underprivileged single mothers who may lack the necessary resources and support networks to cope with their circumstances. Research has shown that single mothers in India are more likely to live in poverty compared to other household types. This is due to a variety of factors such as limited job opportunities, inadequate access to education and training, and social stigma. In Delhi, approximately 9% of households are headed by single mothers, many of whom live in poverty and struggle to make ends meet. These challenges have far-reaching consequences for single mothers and their families. Children growing up in households headed by single mothers are more likely to experience poverty, malnutrition, and limited access to education and healthcare. Additionally, single mothers themselves may face social isolation, mental health problems, and physical health issues. Therefore, the project aims to address these challenges by providing training and support to underprivileged single mothers in Delhi. By doing so, we hope to empower these women with the necessary skills and resources to earn a sustainable income, provide for their families, and improve their overall well-being. PROJECT SUMMARY The project focuses on the challenge that single mothers face. Single mothers, especially the ones who couldn't pursue their future for economic independence have difficulty in raising their children and further look out for themselves. Society views them and their children in a negative light. Moreover, the lower/lack of education of single women continues to disable their confidence. The major challenges here are to build their confidence and drive them out of their houses to achieve a better life for themselves and their children.
